Herdwicks are coming to the Lake District ….
The Lake District Calvert Trust are celebrating their 40th Anniversary and have decided to bring Herdwick ewes to the Central Lake District, but not how me and you know them but as life sized decorated fantasy Herdwick ….
The aim is to help raise money for the Lake District Calvert Trust but this will also help promote many of the local business who take up the opportunity to sponsor a Ewe.
This Lake District exhibit will be starting at Easter 2016 with the Ews popping up in unexpected places … on the street, on buildings, in shops, in hotels, in cafes and in restaurants. There will be over 50 ewes for you to find on the trail.
The exhibit will finish at the end of the school holidays where they will be rounded up for a mass viewing before they will be finally auctioned off in autumn 2016.
Don’t worry if you want to go and find all the ews and don’t know all the locations as the Calvert Trust will be producing, Maps, posters and brochures so everyone can enjoy Herdwick spotting.
The Calvert Trust project will deliver six specialised apartments suitable for stroke survivors and those with acquired brain injuries or physical impairments, including a communal area allowing guests to receive occupational therapy and rehabilitative support on-site.
