Westmorland County Show
The Westmorland County Agricultural Society (WCAS, established 1799) is a registered charity which supports agriculture and related activities. Its activities include the annual Westmorland County Show, the county show takes place on the second Thursday in September at the Society’s showground. It is believed to be one of the largest one day shows in England, with over 30,000 people attending each year.
The Show ….
This year’s award winning county show is taking place on Thursday 10th September 2015. This year show looks like it is one not to be missed after recently picking up the Cumbria Tourism ‘Tourism Event of the Year’ (Sponsored by G1Creative) which was voted for by the public.
Westmorland County Show pride themselves on being a major livestock show, this includes cattle, goats, sheep, heavy horses and much much more. With marquees dotted all around the show field that include the Women’s Institute, Crafts from Cumbria and the local produce food hall plus more but with over 350 stands this is most definitely a show for everyone.
I can’t forget to mention the Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling event, this is one not to be missed, with many of the competitors competing in the traditional costumes.
Show tickets can be purchased 3 ways, buy e-ticket, post or through various outlets in these locations. If you are coming to visit the show you could come and make a holiday of it in the Lake District.
There are a number of accommodation providers close to the Showground which may be of interest.
